Executive Summary

TelecomAssociation's "Membership Drive & New Agent Lead Program" directly connects participating TA vendors with up to 2,000 prospective new business-to-business telecom distributors every month as part of TA's ongoing membership drive.

The four main vendor benefits of this program are:

Any paid TA vendor can be a "Participating Vendor" in this program. The monthly cost to participate is just 50 cents and a printed vendor flyer times the number of prospective new agent leads the participating vendor wants each month. The maximum monthly participation level is $1,000 to sponsor all 2,000 TA membership invitation mailers. The minimum participation level is $250 to sponsor 500 mailers.

One "Select Vendor" from each non-competing TA vendor category (master agent, carrier/reseller, CLEC, RBOC, VoIP, data/private line, conferencing, enhanced services, other) gets exclusive 30-day access to the 100 or so new complimentary TA members that join TA each month as a result of TA's ongoing monthly membership drive mailings and telemarketing follow-up activities.

 

How the Program Works:

1. During the first week of every month, TA sends a complimentary TA membership invitation and application package in a 9"x12" envelope to up to 2,000 business-to-business telecom distributors across the US that are not currently TA members. In addition to a TA membership invitation & application, each package will also contain a marketing slick or brochure from participating TA vendors with a suggestion in the TA invitation cover letter that the invitation recipient review the enclosed information from TA's distributor-friendly vendors.

The prospective agent list TA uses in this program is a master list of almost 18,000 business-to-business telecom distributors from across the country. The list was carefully compiled from InfoUSA and other credible list sources and includes every logical category of telecom distribution business from telecom consultants to data communications integrators to interconnects to equipment VARs. TA's prospective new agent master list is edited by TA to ensure maximum deliverability and to ensure that every business-to-business telecom equipment & service distribution company in the US is contacted by TA and participating TA vendors at least once per calendar year.

2. During the second week of every month, a professional telemarketing firm will contact each of the 2,000 TA invitation package recipients on behalf of TA to register them as complimentary TA members over the phone and collect answers to a short monthly telecom distributor survey.

3. During the third week of every month, TA will deliver to one "Select Vendor" in each non-competing TA vendor category (master agent, carrier/reseller, CLEC, RBOC, VoIP, data/private line, conferencing, enhanced services, other) the names, addresses and phone numbers of those 100 or so new complimentary TA members that have joined TA during the month so that the select vendor might have their agent managers personally contact the new TA member, welcome the new member to the association and to introduce the new TA member to the select vendor's agent program.

4. During the fourth week of every month, TA will deliver to all TA vendors participating in this program the 1,900 or so names, addresses and phone numbers of all the 2,000 prospective agents that were sent the TA invitation and membership package but have not yet joined TA so that the participating vendor can contact the prospective agent "warm lead" (warm as in having already received the TA package with the vendor slick and a TA follow-up call) and answer any questions the prospective agent might have about TA or the TA vendor's agent program or service offerings.

After 30-days, all new complimentary TA members that join TA through this new agent direct-mail and telemarketing follow-up program will be added to the normal TA membership newsletter lists so that TA vendors not participating in this program will still have access to the new TA members and have their vendor program information distributed to the new TA agent members via TA's multiple managed email newsletter lists.

 

Program Sponsorship Prices & Procedures:

1. Any TA vendor may participate in this program by pre-paying the 50 cent per sheet insert sponsorship fee for a specific monthly mailing. Positions for sponsored pieces in the package will be in order of the vendor that prepaid first for the month. Positions for monthly mailings may be locked-in up to 12-months in advance. The "Select Vendor" that will get exclusive 30-day access to new TA member contact information will be the vendor in each non-competing TA vendor category (carrier/reseller, CLEC, RBOC, VoIP, Data/private line, conferencing, enhanced services, other) that first prepays for the the full mailing (2,000 pieces or $1,000) for any month.

2. Participating vendors must have their printed insertion piece delivered to TA not later than the close of business on the last business day of the month to be included in the following month's new agent mailing. Inserts may be printed front & back. Inserts that weigh more than a standard single-sheet glossy marketing insert may require an appropriate extra sponsorship funding amount to accommodate increased labor and/or postage costs.

3. Vendors that find themselves under budget constraints do not need to sponsor all 2,000 pieces in any one month. They can sponsor however may pieces their monthly budget allows at 50 cents per piece. If a vendor has only $500 per month to invest they will get their insert into 1,000 of the 2,000 pieces mailed. If a vendor sponsors just a partial mailing then their "lead list" received at the end of the month will be an equivalent partial list.

4. The geographical state "mix" of the monthly prospective new agent mailing should roughly match the following:
