Q.MARKETPLACE 2010

CREATE YOUR DESTINY

Last week, over 300 Qwest Business Partners gathered in Denver for the annual Q.Marketplace event.  The theme of this year’s conference was “Create Your Destiny.”

In addition to the general session, Partners had an opportunity to attend breakout sessions, along with a product fair, followed by a cocktail reception and awards dinner.

General Session

Blake Wetzel, Vice President of Sales for the Qwest Business Markets Group (BMG), who oversees the Qwest Business Partner Program, told Partners they were a driving force in BMG’s success last year. He also said, “We have listened,” and will continue to listen to bring about change and achieve the concrete results that are necessary.

Chris Ancell, Executive Vice President of BMG, let Partners know that “We appreciate everything you do.”  He went on to encourage Partners to continue to work closely with Qwest to ensure success in the coming year.  To that end, he plans to communicate with Partners so both Qwest and Partners can be more efficient.

Judy Reed Smith of Atlantic-ACM presented an industry research report card and showed the areas where Qwest was “Best in Class” in 2009:

Sean Swarner, the keynote speaker, conveyed the message that there is a difference between “being alive” and “living.”  His desire was to inspire us to motivate ourselves and motivate us to inspire ourselves. A two-time cancer survivor was in his teens when he lost half of one lung to the one of the cancers. Even so, Sean has become a seasoned mountain climber—up to and including climbing to the top of  Mt. Everest. Sean’s message is that we shouldn’t worry about today because it’s a fact of life.  However, he said, be concerned about living a life that matters.

Breakout Sessions

Interesting presentations and stimulating discussions were featured at the various breakout sessions. The topics ranged from process and support to the forward-looking Cloud Computing. Partners showed a lot of interest in the Cloud Computing and Social Media sessions, as well as the always-popular Peer-to-Peer sessions.
