Wednesday at the show's kind of funny in that there are no seminars,
just two hours of the exhibit floor and then everyone heading for the
airport. While there are still plenty of agents wandering around the floor
for the last two hours the exhibit hall is open there's just as many
vendor employees wandering around scavenging any trinkets that are still
out on display at the various booths.
TA had a great show. We met many new agents and new vendors. In spite
of the pending recession in the economy, everyone we met was upbeat about
the prospects for the future because of all the new products and service
being rolled out.
TA ended the day with our trade show tradition of having lunch at the
Mon Ami Gabi cafe at Paris, dinner at Hugo's Cellar at the Four Queens and
then dancing until they kick us out at Cleopatra's Barge at Caesar's.
See you in August at the Boston Channel Partners show.

After the opening day's festivities and the late night parties (and the
even later video production ), the second day can be grueling for those
that attempt to make all the morning seminars. Those of us that need to
stand in a booth for 5 hours usually opt to catch up on our sleep and get
to the booth just as the trade show floor opens (and that's what we did).
Tuesday saw a great many agents collecting information from booth to
booth. At the TA booth we seemed to have people waiting in line to talk to
us about the new benefits for complimentary agents. All the vendors I
video taped seem to think the show was well worth the effort.
The day ended with two very pleasant receptions provided by XO and
Intercall. The day's video clips are pending production (I couldn't make
it through one more day on just two hours of sleep).

"First Day" video
The
day started for the vendors with a lot of hard work, setting up their
booths in addition to sitting in on as many sessions as possible and
speaking at other sessions..
Keynote speaker Ron Jaworski (sponsored by
TA vendor AireSpring) gave an invigorating talk on what he's learned from
great NFL coaches.
Next came the industry keynote address from
TA vendor XO Communications CEO Carl Grivner. His comments included what
might be coming for the industry as a result of who gets elected
president. Then there was the trade show exhibit floor (great food) and
the after hour parties.

In addition to highlights from Ron
Jaworski's talk
and Carl Grivner's XO presentation, our video blog entry for the day includes the
presentation of "Channel Executive of the Year Award" (given to TA vendor
TNCI President Brian Twomey) and a visit with Toucan Global's John
Willenborg, Line Systems' Chris Bonavita
& RAD-INFO's Peter Radizeski. The video is capped off with a visit to
World Telecom Group (WTG)'s
party at the Rio's Wine Celler hosted by Vince Bradley.

Sunday
Night, March 9th
Going to the Channel Partners show in Las Vegas is a lot of fun but it's a
lot of work - especially if you have a booth. To make your booth
investment pay off you need to make sure you're putting out the right
marketing message which means you have to have the right signs, brochures
and the right people who can belt out your "booth pitch" without getting
tired (and without any sleep, and usually just a little bit hung over.)
Vegas seems slow tonight. About 15 minutes
to get a cab (no limo this year what with the pseudo recession and all)
but no wait to check into the hotel. The Rio is not the Venetian or
Mandalay Bay but it's friendly, the rooms are big (we've got the cheapest
one we could buy) and there's a fridge in the room!

This video includes TA's Dan Baldwin talking
about his room at the Rio and how he hopes he makes some money becasue
going to the show is pretty expensive.
