As a telecom agent I use the same sales proposition today as I did fifteen years ago when I started, "Mr. (or Ms.) Customer, as your telecom agent, I do the same thing for you as you'd do for yourself if you had unlimited time and resources - make sure your phone bills are accurate and all your voice & data telecom services are current."

A decade ago though it was a lot easier to review all the bills of $5,000 a month customer that earned you $500 commission.
